Beschreibung
Antonin Dvorak wrote two series of Slavonic Dances (op. 46 and 72) for piano duet. These works have always been extremely popular in their original form and in the orchestral transcriptions, done by Dvorak himself shortly after their publication as piano pieces. Originally conceived as a flute choir arrangement, the lower piano part (typically playing "oom-pah accompaniment figures), did not lend itself to creating interesting parts for the alto and bass flutes. Thus, this edition solves that problem by incorporating a piano and allowing the flutes to do what they were meant to do - dazzle with their virtuosity, precision articulations and long beautiful phrases.
